At one point in our lives we are faced with different challenges of which we solve them on our own and sometimes seek for help from others who are basically our friends. One of the greatest objectives of the big humanitarian organizations is to alleviate poverty and suffering which is a great idea.
What really happens beyond that helping hand? Are we in a position to have a sustainable world for ourselves and others? The foreign aid given to us Africans comes packed and set with conditions, the “must do” things, which at the end lead us not to achieve our objectives but instead fulfill their needs. We are victims of our own making by letting conditions to be imposed to us instead of working hard to sustain our people.
What if we step out of the foreign aid circle and help creating a society that solves the challenges they encounter by themselves? What if all African governments to uphold passion for their people and integrity in their activities? What if we turn our economic system to socialism from capitalism?
Of late there has been a lot of violence and acts of intolerance in the streets of different countries in Africa. The great participants are the young generation which is thought to set pace for other generations to come. What will we as African youths pass to other generations, is it the daily thing on the streets?
It is a vital question for us to meditate and realize we can do better than this. It is a matter of humanity to know that it is wrong to turn against each other, one does not need to be an intellectual. Let us stop failing ourselves and make the greater part of the world respect us rather than demeaning us for our own making.
What if we turn and look at the brighter side of life where human life is treated with dignity and as a great treasure? What if we join organizations which advocate for peace and sustainable development and help in spreading the idea? What if we treated each other as if we were born of the same mother and father?
I call for education that sees the overall need of every child and promotes peace and sustainable development in Africa and the world at large.
